{"id":327854,"date":"2020-08-10T06:00:06","date_gmt":"2020-08-09T20:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=327854"},"modified":"2020-08-10T06:00:06","modified_gmt":"2020-08-09T20:00:06","slug":"3-cnmi-students-complete-summer-leadership-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/3-cnmi-students-complete-summer-leadership-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"3 CNMI students complete summer leadership seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three CNMI students recently completed the Summer Leadership Seminar hosted by the ROTC program of the Northern Marianas College. <\/p>\n<p>The three recently graduated high school seniors spent the summer honing their leadership abilities through a series of virtual engagements and challenges with the ROTC program\u2019s four leadership coaches, who have a combined 90 years of professional leadership experience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_327861\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-327861\" style=\"width: 52px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Julia-Biton.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"52\" height=\"84\" class=\"size-full wp-image-327861\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-327861\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Biton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The students include Julia Biton, who graduated from Tinian High School this year, and Zachary Leon Guerrero and Tyrell Ngewakl, who both graduated from Marinas High School in June.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on her Summer Leadership Seminar experience, Biton said, \u201cIt has allowed me to experience new things I wouldn\u2019t have done myself and move forward with working on my future goals. It truly helped me with assessing my weaknesses and improve as an individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Zachary-Leon-Guerrero.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"154\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-327863\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The coaches developed the students\u2019 leadership abilities by using a coaching model created by the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Guerrero noted, \u201cI learned that even though we are struggling a lot in life [due to the pandemic], we must not let that mindset ruin us and bring us down. No matter what happens in life, we make mistakes only to learn from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All three of the recent high school graduates have taken the next step in their academic journeys by registering for classes this fall at NMC.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Tyrell-Ngewakl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"149\" height=\"231\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-327862\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ngewakl said that the best thing about this seminar \u201cis that I was always able to improve every single time, every single day.\u201d\u00a0 And with hard work and determination, all three students will continue their development as future leaders for their islands and the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>NMC\u2019s ROTC program is the premiere leadership development program in the CNMI, producing dynamic leaders for the CNMI, the Pacific, and the United States of America.
