{"id":328088,"date":"2020-08-13T06:01:53","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T20:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=328088"},"modified":"2020-08-13T06:01:53","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T20:01:53","slug":"chcc-pays-cuc-2-5m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/chcc-pays-cuc-2-5m\/","title":{"rendered":"CHCC pays CUC $2.5M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Muna confirmed that CHCC has already paid half of $2.5 million to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. last July 31 and that CHCC\u2019s board of trustees have asked her to set up a meeting with CUC executive director Gary Camacho to discuss other payment arrangements. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur [CHCC] board of trustees requested the CUC board that the executive director and I meet. I am waiting for their approval for Gary to meet with us and, we\u2019re just waiting for that so that we can discuss other payment arrangements,\u201d said Mu\u00f1a. <\/p>\n<p>As for CUC\u2019s recommendation that the hospital be disconnected for six hours if they don\u2019t pay the $5 million, that is still up in the air, Mu\u00f1a said, but that they\u2019ve already written to the CUC board and have yet to receive CUC\u2019s response.<\/p>\n<p>CUC has given CHCC an ultimatum to pay at least $5 million of the money it owes and CHCC has already paid $2.5 million since receiving the money from the Torres administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe met the $2.5 million. The governor did transfer the money, and we paid that as soon as we received it,\u201d said Muna. CHCC has another $2.5 million to go, which will be discussed with Camacho.<\/p>\n<p>Last Nov. 13, Camacho stated that they reached out to CHCC about their utility bill that has now accumulated to $32 million.
