(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Marianas Golf Association vice president Joey Dela Cruz took the MGA August Ace last Saturday at the Kingfisher Golf Links.<\/p>\n<p>The 11-handicapper fired a 40 on the front and improved his scores on the back with a 36 for a gross 76 and net 65. Dela Cruz finished second behind Chris Leon Guerrero in the low net category and since the latter had already secured the June Ace, the former was handed this month\u2019s title. Deleon Guerrero, who had a 24 handicap, carded a gross 87 and net 63 after drilling a 47 in the first nine holes and 40 in the last.<\/p>\n<p>Junior golfer Sebastian Camacho rounded out the Top 3 in after registering a net 68. The 6-handicapper showed consistency at the Talafofo course with his par of 37s for a gross 74, the second-best score in the 23-field. Harry Nakamura, who landed at fourth place in the low net category, had the lowest gross with a 2-under par 70 as he tallied a 36 on the front and 34 on the back. (Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rounding out last Saturday\u2019s participants in the MGA August Ace of the Month Tournament were John Sablan (net 69), Ned Norita (70), Mel Sablan (71), Isaac Aguon (71), Dung Tenorio (72), Patrick George (72), Calvin Yamagishi (72), Shine Tenorio (76), James Benavente (77), Benjie Pangelinan (77), Victor Salas (77), Herman Kintol (77), J.J, Atalig (78), Jeff Tomokane (81), Don Hallmark (81), Patrick Guerrero (82), Eric David (83), and John Terlaje (86).<\/p>\n<p>In the closest to the pin contest, Atalig won in hole Nos. 8 and 15, while Nakamura and Shine Tenorio prevailed on No. 12 and 6, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chamorro sling in golf course<\/strong><br \/>\nMGA had a guest player for the August tournament with Vicente \u201cGuelo\u201d Rosario showing up at the course and playing the whole 18 holes using his Chamorro sling and sling-stone shaped golf balls. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, MGA also welcomed two new members\u2014Terlaje and Guerrero\u2014during last weekend\u2019s competition and encouraged interested players to join the group. MGA\u2019s season just started in May, so player still have several chances to play in the association\u2019s monthly tournaments.
