{"id":329073,"date":"2020-09-02T06:01:11","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T20:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=329073"},"modified":"2020-09-02T06:01:11","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T20:01:11","slug":"lions-club-hands-out-50-care-packages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/lions-club-hands-out-50-care-packages\/","title":{"rendered":"Lions club hands out 50 care packages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Fil-American Lions Club distributed 50 care packages to parishioners at the Nuestra Senora Bithen Delos Remedios Parish in Tanapag over the weekend. <\/p>\n<p>The care packages\u2014composed of 20 lbs of rice, butane, noodles, and sardines\u2014benefited those in the community who\u2019ve been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe club was grateful to the sponsors and donors who made this distribution possible,\u201d said SFLB president Eden Mercado. <\/p>\n<p>Those donors included Alpex Saipan Inc., Lyn Reyes of Sapphire Enterprises Inc., Arman Amog, Milla Pellegrino of Saipan Ice &amp; Water Company, Blanco Imbo from Guam Lions, and other club members. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the food bank that our club organized\u2026to help the community during this time of the pandemic. In the Tanapag area, we have asked the assistance of the parish to help identify those in need,\u201d said Mercado. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, she said they set up relief package pickup in As Lito at their adopted bus stop on a first-come, first-served basis. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank everyone for the continued support around the community. We appreciate all the donations and we are glad to help with what we can or have for our community. During these times when things are very tough, we should always help one another. Even a small amount will help,\u201d Mercado added. <\/p>\n<p>The club recently collaborated with the Saipan Mighty Dolphins Leo Club in donating 40 sets of hygiene kits to Marianas High School in preparation for face-to-face learning when the school finally opens. <\/p>\n<p>If you wish to donate and be in partnership with the club, you can call Mercado at 788-2416 or club secretary Mario Mayuga at 285-1021.
