I want to thank Mr. Don Farrell for writing his letter to the editor, in which he urged CNMI voters to ignore election-year slander.<\/p>\n
I have seen many elections in the CNMI. My family on both my mother\u2019s and father\u2019s sides had members who ran and were elected to top political posts, including the CNMI\u2019s first governor, Dr. Carlos S. Camacho, and the late senator Olympio T. Borja, who served in the former Congress of Micronesia and was a signatory to the Covenant, which established the CNMI. My brother, Jesse C. Borja, was the lieutenant governor under the late governor Froilan C. Tenorio.<\/p>\n
In election years, I saw how some persons changed from their regular pleasant, positive selves to become very nasty and very negative. When the election is over, those persons returned to their regular positive selves again.<\/p>\n
As Mr. Farrell wrote, we should judge Rep. Edwin Propst on his accomplishments, not on alleged sexual improprieties many years ago. Incidentally, I have taught at Marianas High School and at Northern Marianas College for almost 30 years, and I have never heard of any rumors regarding Rep. Propst\u2019s character. Instead, I have heard how Rep. Propst, his wife Daisy, and their children bring supper and comfort each evening to his sick mother. <\/p>\n
