{"id":330032,"date":"2020-09-18T06:03:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T20:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=330032"},"modified":"2020-09-18T06:03:14","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T20:03:14","slug":"mass-testing-temporarily-suspended-until-further-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/mass-testing-temporarily-suspended-until-further-notice\/","title":{"rendered":"Mass testing temporarily suspended until further notice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force announced yesterday that the CNMI mass testing\u2014called the Community-Based Testing Initiative\u2014will be temporarily suspended until further notice. <\/p>\n<p>As of Sept. 14, 2020, the CNMI has collected 19,345 specimens for COVID-19 tests on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. This is approximately 34% of the CNMI\u2019s population. <\/p>\n<p>The public is being encouraged to continue to follow updates and announcements from the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force and Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. on the next phase of community-based testing. <\/p>\n<p>The task force and CHCC remind the public that getting tested for COVID-19 does not improve response to the illness, nor does it reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting the disease. People who are tested and have a negative result are still vulnerable to the virus. Residents within the Marianas are encouraged to practice the 3 W\u2019s: \u201cWear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>For information on the CNMI\u2019s response to COVID-19, contact the Governor\u2019s COVID- 19 Task Force hotline numbers at 287-0046, 287-0489, and 287-1089.
