{"id":330101,"date":"2020-09-21T06:03:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-20T20:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=330101"},"modified":"2020-09-21T06:03:34","modified_gmt":"2020-09-20T20:03:34","slug":"cota-awarded-351000-under-fta-emergency-relief-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cota-awarded-351000-under-fta-emergency-relief-program\/","title":{"rendered":"COTA awarded $351,000 under  FTA Emergency Relief Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority has been awarded $351,000 under the Federal Transit Authority\u2019s Emergency Relief Program for transit systems affected by major disasters that occurred in 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, COTA applied for a grant opportunity under the Public Transportation Emergency Relief Program (Emergency Relief Program) to states, territories, local governmental authorities, Indian tribes, and other FTA recipients affected by major declared disasters occurring in calendar year 2018.\u00a0 COTA was one of the seven grant applications from around the United States awarded these disaster relief funds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCOTA continues to be a proactive agency that responds directly to natural disasters and emergencies. From typhoons in 2018 to this year\u2019s COVID-19 pandemic, the work that COTA\u2019s drivers, dispatchers, operators, and administrative staff do during critical times assist many of our residents get from place to place safely. Lt. Gov. [Arnold I.] Palacios and I commend special assistant Alfreda [Camacho] and her team for their hard work,\u201d said Gov.
