Finance Secretary David DLG. Atalig recently disclosed that he is receiving $5 million in community disaster loan from the
\nFederal Emergency Management Agency and is expecting $16.2 million more reimbursement from FEMA. <\/p>\n
Atalig expects the FEMA reimbursement to total $10 million in the first batch. He said he is also receiving the initial $5
\nmillion from FEMA\u2019s community disaster loan, which has been approved.<\/p>\n
Atalig said that, in the early stages of the COVID-19 Task Force responding to the pandemic, a lot of resources were used. The FEMA reimbursement will cover those expenses but about $6.2 million will be due to the CNMI\u2019s Super Typhoon Yutu expenses. <\/p>\n
\u201cKeep in mind, all these reimbursements are actual dollars out of our general fund. And so these reimbursements are for activities that we obviously couldn\u2019t pay with the general fund because it was used to take care of these disasters. Therefore these reimbursement coming in will be reinstating different accounts that I have to access.
