{"id":33017,"date":"2014-04-22T18:02:18","date_gmt":"2014-04-22T10:02:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tribune.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=33017"},"modified":"2014-04-22T18:02:18","modified_gmt":"2014-04-22T10:02:18","slug":"navfac-awards-25m-improve-emergent-repair-facility-guam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/navfac-awards-25m-improve-emergent-repair-facility-guam\/","title":{"rendered":"NAVFAC awards $25M to improve emergent repair facility in Guam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PEARL HARBOR\u2014Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific awarded a $25.69 million firm-fixed-price task order under a multiple award construction contract on April 10 to Guam MACC Builders A JV, a large business of Honolulu, Hawaii, for the design and construction of an emergent repair facility at Naval Base Guam. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An improved emergent repair facility equips Naval Base Guam with a more robust submarine repair capability and provides first class support to homeported and forward deployed vessels,&#8221; said Naval Base Guam Commanding Officer Capt. Mike Ward. &#8220;The awarding of this contract makes significant steps to further support the fleet now and, more importantly, into the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The work to be performed includes the design and construction of a low rise, two-story, building that will be attached to the existing emergent repair facility. The project will expand the existing two-story reinforced concrete structure with pile foundation, reinforced concrete walls and roof structure, and beam column frame. In addition, built-in equipment will include a passenger\/ freight elevator, an overhead crane and an emergency diesel generator and a radon mitigation system.<\/p>\n<p>The contract also contains one unexercised option, which if exercised would increase cumulative task order value to $28 million. Work will be performed in Santa Rita, Guam, and is expected to be completed by May 2016.
