{"id":330361,"date":"2020-09-24T06:00:50","date_gmt":"2020-09-23T20:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=330361"},"modified":"2020-09-24T06:00:50","modified_gmt":"2020-09-23T20:00:50","slug":"man-pleads-guilty-to-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/man-pleads-guilty-to-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Man pleads guilty to theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Superior Court has sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to theft to a one-year imprisonment. <\/p>\n<p>Robert Jake Palacios, 32, pleaded guilty to the theft charge against him last Tuesday and was sentenced on the same day. <\/p>\n<p>Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio sentenced Palacios to one-year imprisonment all suspended except 60 days. The judge also deemed him ineligible for parole, early release or work release.<\/p>\n<p>Kim-Tenorio ordered Palacios to self-surrender to the Department of Corrections immediately and to report to the Office of Adult Probation after serving his sentence. <\/p>\n<p>The court gave Palacios credit for time serve and was given 16 days\u2019 credit toward his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas represented the government while assistant public defender Karie Comstock appeared for Palacios.<\/p>\n<p>After completing his sentence, Palacios will be placed on probation for three years and pay a fine of $100.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios was ordered not have direct or indirect contact with the victim during his entire probationary period.<\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, police reported that after giving Palacios a ride in the victim\u2019s car, Palacios stole the person\u2019s cell phone, which was in the cup holder between them.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios then asked an electronics store in Garapan to reset the cell phone without a password on Dec. 18, 2019. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Superior Court has sentenced a man who pleaded guilty to theft to a one-year&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":330354,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-330361","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/330361","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=330361"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/330361\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/330354"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=330361"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=330361"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=330361"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
