The Saipan Marianas Lions Club completed last Sept. 26 the repair and repainting of two bus stops that they had adopted five years ago.<\/p>\n
The two bus stops are located on Lower Navy Hill and in Gualo Rai. Lion Ladyvir Canape says that there were three volunteers who helped with the repainting: Tessie Tan, Alma Famat, Jhun Canape, and herself.<\/p>\n
Last Sept. 6, the Saipan Marianas Lions Club\u2019s sister club, the Saipan Centennial Lions Club, repainted one of the pavilions at Sugar Dock Beach in Chalan Kanoa. They also repaired a barbecue stand and installed an urn for cigarette butts.<\/p>\n
Within the week of Sept. 6 to Sept. 12, the club distributed care packages to community members who are in dire need of necessities. According to Saipan Centennial Lions Club president Arceli Lizama, they distributed 51 packages, each containing rice, eggs, oranges, milk, laundry detergent, noodles, and bathroom tissue.<\/p>\n

The sister club of Saipan Marianas Lions Club, Saipan Centennial Lions Club, inducted 11 new members last Sept. 26 at the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan in Garapan. The club now has 36 members.<\/p>\n
Lions Club International Foundation coordinator Annamae Adaza advised the new members to \u201cbe careful\u201d with criticism and liberal with praise, and to build up and not destroy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe should not be happy for somebody else\u2019s despair or hardship,\u201d said Adaza. \u201cAs Lions we have different issues, challenges, and all our differences but, at the end of the day, we are still Lions.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to make a difference in our community,\u201d Lizama said. \u201cThis will not be possible without the commitment and dedication of members. We will continue our journey of service, especially for the less fortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
