The Northern Marianas College is seeking individuals or groups who are interested in competing for the college\u2019s Charter Day competitions: Marianas Idol and the Battle of the Bands competition.<\/p>\n

The Marianas Idol competition showcases the CNMI\u2019s singers while the Battle of the Bands allows bands from different musical genres to compete.<\/p>\n

The Northern Marianas College Charter Day, one of the islands\u2019 biggest celebrations, will take place on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 5pm to 10pm at NMC\u2019s As Terlaje campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be showcasing various programs, delicious food and thirst quenching drinks from many of the local vendors, and we will be featuring great entertainment,\u201d said Ervin Cruz, Charter Day Committee chair.<\/p>\n

\u2018Those interested in competing in any of the competitions can pick up an application form from the NMC Student Center in Building J, or can download application forms or rules at\u00a0www.marianas.edu. There is no application fee for any of the competitions.<\/p>\n

Applications for the competitions are due Friday, May 2, 2014, by 5pm. Contestants will be contacted no later than May 3, 2014, to schedule the dates and times for auditions. The auditions for the Marianas Idol singing competition will be on May 8, 2014, at the Student Center, and the auditions for the Battle of the Bands will be held on May 7, 2014, at the Saipan Southern High School Band Room at 4:30pm.<\/p>\n

For the Battle of the Bands, groups are required to bring their own equipment.<\/p>\n

In addition to inviting participants for the competitions, the Charter Day Planning Committee is also inviting agencies, businesses, clubs, and other civic organizations to participate by purchasing booth space for the following categories: food\/drink, game booths, retail (arts and crafts, toys etc.), and information.<\/p>\n

The deadline to submit applications for booth spaces is on Friday, May 9, 2014. Booth space is limited so applications should be submitted as soon the deadline is announced. The booth fee is $75 for NMC clubs and nonprofit organizations and $150 for commercial vendors.<\/p>\n
