Gov. Arnold I. Palacios declaring October as CNMI Humanities Month. Council members were also in attendance to witness the proclamation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re here today to celebrate the importance of the humanities throughout our islands. By definition\u2026the humanities include a wide range of disciplines, including history, religion, literature, philosophy, jurisprudence, and art,\u201d said vice chair Isa Arriola.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we sign this proclamation today, let\u2019s be reminded of our CNMI people\u2019s deep and rich histories, our presence and our futures, that continue to inform the ways that we know and share with the world,\u201d said Arriola.<\/p>\n<p>Leo Pangelinan, Humanities Council director, read the English version of the proclamation, while board member Carol Peter Hosono read the Carolinian version. Colin Jay Cruz, who is the board member for Rota, read the Chamorro version.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pangelinan, the major goal at the Humanities Council is to preserve and promote the indigenous cultures and languages within the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI want to thank the Humanities Council, for continuing its effort to make sure that we continue to live our lives, look at our history, and look at who we are as a people in the community, and how we have advanced, and how some of those tenets of our society continue to be relevant to us and continues to guide us,\u201d said Palacios.<\/p>\n<p>The Humanities Council has set up Friday interviews for what it calls Humanities Fridays with different panelists who will discuss history, projects, culture, and other current events throughout the month of October.<\/p>\n<p>These guests include Sophia Perez, Soroptimists of the NMI (Maureen Sebangiol, Marilynn Marron, and Pam Brown), Hanna Jugo, Fu\u2019una Sanz, Thomas Manglo\u00f1a, Vana Quichocho, Joey P.
