{"id":331137,"date":"2020-10-07T06:02:43","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T20:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=331137"},"modified":"2020-10-07T06:02:43","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T20:02:43","slug":"tropical-storm-chan-hom-to-become-a-typhoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/tropical-storm-chan-hom-to-become-a-typhoon\/","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Storm Chan-Hom to become a typhoon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Tropical Storm Chan-Hom continues to move away from the Marianas, it continues to intensify and is forecasted to become a typhoon today. <\/p>\n<p>According to National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, as of 2pm yesterday Chan-Hom carries maximum sustained winds of up to 50mph and is expected to become a typhoon tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Chan-Hom was seen moving west-northwest and away from the Marianas at 300 degrees at nine mph. <\/p>\n<p>The center of Tropical Storm Chan-Hom was last seen located near latitude 24.0 degrees north and longitude 138.1 degrees east. This is about 790 miles northwest of Saipan, 850 miles north-northwest of Guam, and about 210 miles west-southwest of Iwo To Island.<\/p>\n<p>NWS sees a slight increase of up to 10mph of forward speed is through Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Tropical storm force winds from  Chan-Hom extends outward from the center up to 185 miles.
