William C. McCool Elementary and Middle School last Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise was designed to put DoDEA staff and military partners through a\u00a0series of scenarios that could occur when Guam DoDEA schools reopen to\u00a0classroom learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe discussed the various steps required to safely and quickly respond to\u00a0possible COVID-19 hazards at DoDEA schools of Guam,\u201d said Tiana Guerrero, Joint Region Marianas emergency management planner. \u201cIt was important to\u00a0determine gaps or shortfalls in the plan and take action to remedy them prior\u00a0to schools reopening. The scenarios we discussed can easily turn into real-world situations and by preparing now, we can better handle unknown variables\u00a0before they occur.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participants worked through practice scenarios, discussing roles and\u00a0responsibilities and documenting questions and concerns, to develop and\u00a0evaluate plans to respond to potential COVID-19 vectors into DoDEA schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe training went very well,\u201d said Lt. Joshua Owens, U.S. Naval Base Guam\u00a0emergency operations center director. \u201cWe were able to take positive steps\u00a0forward to be prepared for the real-world situations and respond appropriately.
