The New XO Market opened its doors a day and a half after correcting violations that caused the Environmental Health Disease Prevention to temporarily shut the store down last Oct. 6.<\/p>\n
According to a source who agreed to speak on the condition that they not be identified, the store\u2019s violation was that they did not comply with labeling regulations, which the source described as not a major violation.<\/p>\n
Public Law 11-40 defines \u201clabel\u201d to include any legend, word, or mark attached to, included in, belonging to, in close proximity to, or accompanying any food, drug, cosmetic, device, or package.<\/p>\n
According to the source, an inspection of the store\u2019s freezer storage showed that the packages of fish, chicken, and other frozen food items weren\u2019t in their labeled place, which caused the shutdown. A six-person EHDP team made the inspection last Sunday.<\/p>\n
Since the store get frozen food deliveries at random times of the day, their frozen foodstuffs weren\u2019t in their correct places, causing the shutdown, the source said.<\/p>\n
New XO Market shut down at approximately 1pm on Sunday, Oct. 4, and reopened on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10am. Eight EHDP staff members reevaluated the store and confirmed that the violation has been rectified and they did not find anything dirty.<\/p>\n
