He said they had staff working over the weekend.

“Taxpayers in this first batch should be expecting it as early as Saturday morning or Monday morning, and throughout the week, depending on how the post office gets the checks in their mail boxes,” he said.

Atalig said taxpayers may contact the Division of Revenue and Taxation to check if they’re in the first batch. He said they are also getting a lot of calls regarding different child tax credits. He said the staff at the Division of Revenue and Taxation are available to answer any taxpayer’s questions. He cautioned, however, that they will probably be getting a lot of calls so people have to be patient. “Hopefully, we’ll get to their calls or emails,” he said.

Atalig said they are releasing checks based on a first-in, first-out process. That means those who submitted their tax returns first before the deadline get to be in the first batch.

With respect to Pandemic Unemployment Assistance checks, Atalig said they’re having a meeting that day, Friday, with Labor’s PUA team, where one of the topics is how to speed up the process of releasing the checks as well as to find out how much more they have to release.

“We’re always working on trying to improve our process,” he said.

The Department of Finance has started releasing this week the first batch of income tax…

[900

post-331557","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured
["GET
