A man who was allegedly caught selling methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d in a sting operation has pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal.<\/p>\n
Fernando Cadag Jr. pleaded guilty to a count of trafficking a controlled substance and was sentenced to five years in prison, all suspended except for one year and six months.<\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo ordered Cadag to report to the Department of Corrections on Nov. 20 to serve his sentence, which was imposed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to his sentence, Cadag will serve the 18-month prison sentence day for day without the possibility of parole or early release or other similar programs. Upon completing his prison sentence, Cadag will be placed on three-year probation.<\/p>\n
Cadag admitted that he was actively distributing and selling \u201cice\u201d on island.<\/p>\n
According to court information, Cadag was caught on March 7, 2018, during a sting operation by the Drug Enforcement Task Force, which used a cooperating source.<\/p>\n
At 2:09pm that day, the cooperating source and Cadag agreed to meet at the Saipan Vegas Hotel where they\u2019d ride together in Cadag\u2019s vehicle to his home in Susupe where they\u2019d get his supply of \u201cice.\u201d Later that day, at 3:01pm, the cooperating source met with DETF officers and turned over a small baggie containing a crystalline substance, which later tested for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
Officers noted that Cadag had his 2-year-old son with him when he and the cooperating source made the transaction. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
