The \u201cProposed Amendment to the Pesticide Regulations\u201d that was published on Sept. 28, 2020, in Volume 42 of the Commonwealth Register is now available for public review and comments.<\/p>\n
This proposed amendment seeks to extend the duration of the pesticide applicator certifications from three years to five years. This temporary modification to the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality\u2019s pesticide regulatory program is intended to mitigate the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 public health emergency. <\/p>\n
To implement the Governor\u2019s Second Amendment Executive Order 2020-04, under which Directive 11 strongly recommends \u201csocial distancing of at least six feet whenever possible and reasonable,\u201d BECQ has reduced the number of persons who may sit for BECQ\u2019s monthly pesticide applicator examination. BECQ recognizes that, as a result, applicators whose certifications have expired or will soon expire may be unable to complete the examination for renewal certification. <\/p>\n
BECQ invites the public to review and provide comment on the Proposed Amendment to the Pesticide Regulations by submitting comments in person to BECQ office at the Gualo Rai Center on Middle Road, by mail, or by email. <\/p>\n

Comments should contain the subject line \u201cProposed Amendment to the Pesticide Regulations\u201d or similar. All comments must be received by BECQ no later than Oct. 28, 2020, to be considered by BECQ in preparation of the final adoption of the regulation. <\/p>\n
Pursuant to CMC 9104(a)(2), BECQ will fully consider all written and oral submissions respecting the proposed regulations.
