{"id":331683,"date":"2020-10-16T06:03:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T20:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=331683"},"modified":"2020-10-16T06:03:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-15T20:03:49","slug":"jrm-invests-in-habitat-conservation-in-guam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/jrm-invests-in-habitat-conservation-in-guam\/","title":{"rendered":"JRM invests in habitat conservation in Guam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ASAN, Guam\u2014Joint Region Marianas has awarded $2 million in support of a cooperative agreement with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation\u00a0to initiate a foundational conservation alliance in support of the advancement of habitat conservation in Guam.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the agreement is made available through the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration program administered by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and will align with and significantly support priority conservation initiatives of the Guam Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a win for Guam,\u201d said Rear Adm. John Menoni, JRM commander. \u201cThe award represents DoD\u2019s enduring commitment to protect and preserve Guam\u2019s natural resources through mutually beneficial partnerships. \u2026It is an effort that builds upon our longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship, and it further demonstrates our dedication to our island community.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Adhering to the Sikes Act and through this REPI project, JRM will support long-term viability of natural habitats for outcomes beneficial to both the military and the greater community.
