Filers with error-free returns filed on or before April 17, 2020 can expect their checks in the mail this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this week we released $17 million in COLA [cost of living allowance], ahead of the mandated deadline. Along with $23.7 million in tax refunds, that\u2019s nearly $41 million put into the hands of taxpayers and retirees under local authority in the last few days alone,\u201d said Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero. \u201cI want to thank the members of my Fiscal Discipline team and the employees of the Department of Revenue and Taxation and the Department of Administration for their work to ensure these refunds were issued expeditiously.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt was through prudent fiscal management that we were able to release these funds. This effort is part of a series of actions to help people who have been affected by COVID-19,\u201d said Lt. Gov.
