{"id":332014,"date":"2020-10-22T06:02:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-21T20:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=332014"},"modified":"2020-10-22T06:02:37","modified_gmt":"2020-10-21T20:02:37","slug":"ufo-takes-part-in-beach-cleanup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/ufo-takes-part-in-beach-cleanup\/","title":{"rendered":"UFO takes part in beach cleanup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 18 members of the United Filipino Organization took part in cleaning up the San Isidro Beach Park in Chalan Kanoa last Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mar Masilungan, UFO president, the San Isidro Beach Park is one of the sites identified by the Governor\u2019s Council of Economic Advisers that is open for adoption under the council\u2019s Public-Private Partnership program, which aims to harness the private sector in the development and maintenance of the CNMI\u2019s parks and tourist sites. Masilungan said the cleanup was UFO\u2019s response to the GCEA\u2019s call in adopting the park, which is also known as Laly 4.<\/p>\n<p>The cleanup was also part of the UFO\u2019s commitment to provide community service in the CNMI, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Masilungan said that volunteers from nine different Filipino organizations under the umbrella of UFO participated in the cleanup. \u201cUFO would like to thank the [Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office] and the Division of Parks and Recreation for assistance in hauling and proper disposal of the collected trash, and every individual who volunteered their time for the cleanup,\u201d said Masilungan.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time UFO has contributed to the community. Last April 29, UFO donated relief goods to families who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
