(Mark Rabago)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Belying its name, Saipan Toys, LLC along Middle Road in Gualo Rai doesn\u2019t sell toys\u2014at least the kind that children play with.<\/p>\n<p>The recently opened store actually retails toys for the big boys like sportscars, heavy duty pickup trucks, high-performance motorcycles and dirt bikes, and even smart TVs. <\/p>\n<p>Owner Scott Malin said he created Saipan Toys because he\u2019s simply a connoisseur of \u201cbig boys toys\u201d as he himself described them. \u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed and been a collector of such things.\u201d <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_332042\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-332042\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Saipan-pix-2-300x225.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-332042\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A 1979 Jeep Wrangler and Harley Davidson and Ninja high-powered motorbikes adorn its showroom. (Mark Rabago)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He admits that opening a new store\u2014much more a store that sells big-ticket items\u2014is always a risk during hard times. That\u2019s why many had misgivings when he set up Saipan Toys especially in the middle of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Malin, however, is optimistic. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely not easy, but it should be good when things pick back up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For those interested, Saipan Toys also does financing for small items ($10,000 or less) through Express Financial.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to abiding by the guidelines of the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force, he said Saipan Toys strictly follows them as customers and staff are required to always have face masks on, hand sanitizers are available at the entrance, there are traffic directions inside and signs on the door, and there are clearly marked doors for going inside and outside.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_332043\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-332043\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Saipan-pix-3-300x225.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-332043\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">82-inch Samsung smart TVs.(Mark Rabago)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Malin said he appreciates the community\u2019s support in the short time Saipan Toys has been open. \u201cWe\u2019ve gotten very good reception so far. We\u2019ve had a wide range of customers. Thank you for all the support we have received so far. We also have container space available if any needs to bring any cargo in from the [United] States,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan Toys is located across the new U.S. Courthouse and beside Best Car Wash in Gualo Rai.
