{"id":332373,"date":"2020-10-28T06:03:55","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T20:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=332373"},"modified":"2020-10-28T06:03:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-27T20:03:55","slug":"osborne-says-dc-on-standstill-due-to-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/osborne-says-dc-on-standstill-due-to-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Osborne says DC on standstill due to election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CNMI Washington Office director Jason Osborne said Friday that Washington, D.C. right now is pretty much at a standstill, which is to be expected considering that there is an election less than two weeks from now.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a radio news briefing, Osborne said there\u2019s been talks about a second round of stimulus package and that the U.S. House of Representatives has already passed a version, but the U.S. Senate is resisting the version that the House had passed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey want a scaled-down version,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Osborne said President Donald Trump\u2019s administration is trying to send out funds related to the the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act and the previous stimuluses as well as some of their discretionary grant programs. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still operating under a continuing resolution, which funds the government until Dec. 11,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In his personal opinion, Osborne believes the continuing resolution will be extended further, probably until after the inauguration of the next administration.
