Antonio L. Borja is the new Tinian representative on the Board of Education.<\/p>\n

Board of Education chair Janice A. Tenorio swore in Borja as the new Tinian BOE representative last Friday at the BOE special meeting, making the BOE complete with five members.<\/p>\n

According to Tenorio, Borja was appointed by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres three days after former BOE Tinian representative, Philip Mendiola-Long, resigned last Oct. 20. Tenorio stated that it\u2019s critical that Tinian is represented on the board.<\/p>\n

Though the BOE is now complete, two spots have been vacant since the ending of October since two members have already completed their second term and three people are running on Nov. 3 to fill the two vacant spots.<\/p>\n

The two members who have completed two terms are Tenorio and member Marylou Ada.<\/p>\n

Tenorio stated that she will still be their \u201cfor the children.\u201d \u201cAlthough that I am out of board, my passion is education, my passion is also PSS,\u201d said Tenorio. She stated that she will always work with the Public School System\u2019s administration, teachers, and school leaders. Tenorio stated that she will assist in any way possible she can but as a volunteer.<\/p>\n

Tenorio and Ada were presented Friday tokens of appreciation by Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada as the PSS celebrated the 36th year of Headstart Awareness Month in October and the 16th year of Early Headstart.<\/p>\n

Tenorio was appointed last Jan. 15, 2019, as the 16th BOE chairwoman, after the BOE unanimously voted to elect Tenorio as its head. According to Saipan Tribune archives, Tenorio stated at that time that her biggest goal as the 16th BOE chairwoman is to work with the board and to make a difference in her last two years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
