Four more travelers were confirmed positive for COVID-19 last Saturday, Oct. 31, which brings the CNMI\u2019s cumulative total to 96 cases since March 28, 2020.<\/p>\n
According to the statement from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., the new cases were identified by travel screening and were confirmed through testing upon arrival.<\/p>\n
The four individuals have been safely in quarantine and were moved to the designated isolation area for close monitoring. CHCC has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new cases, including passengers on the same flight.<\/p>\n
Separately, the Alternate Care Site at Kanoa Resort has been registered under CHCC as a Medicare facility, said CHCC chief executive officer Esther Mu\u00f1a. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhen Medicare comes, they\u2019re going to look at this facility. If there\u2019s a patient here, they\u2019re going to look at our policies, making sure that our policies have been amended to include this facility, to make sure that what we do at the main facility at CHCC is going to be done here as well, so it shouldn\u2019t be any different,\u201d said Mu\u00f1a.<\/p>\n
The idea is to make sure that the staff and the patients experience the same care at the facility as they would at the Commonwealth Health Center. Mu\u00f1a said that everyone got involved to make sure that all relevant matters are set at the ACS and if there is a trigger to use it\u2014when there is a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the CNMI\u2014CHC employees are ready to be detailed to the ACS and they\u2019re able to work there.<\/p>\n
Mu\u00f1a also emphasized that the key ingredient to the fight against the coronavirus is testing and monitoring.
