Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public health authorities, the American Memorial Park\u00a0is reopening\u00a0the Visitor Center. The National Park Service, which operates the park, is working servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Beginning\u00a0today, Nov. 16, 2020,\u00a0the Visitor Center will open three days a week\u2014Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.\u00a0In\u00a0addition, the Micro Beach pavilion, tennis court and softball field continue to be available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis and in accordance with local public health guidance.\u00a0\u00a0At this time the Pacific Historic Parks bookstore and Visitor Center theater will remain closed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners continues to be paramount. At American Memorial Park, our operational approach\u00a0continues to be centered on examining each facility function and service to ensure those operations comply with current public health guidance and are regularly monitored. We continue to work closely with the NPS Office of Public Health using CDC guidance to ensure public areas and workspaces are safe and clean,\u201d according to an NPS statement Friday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA safe and enjoyable park experience begins at home. The NPS encourages visitors to plan their visit by checking the park\u2019s website and social media for current conditions and travel tips.\u00a0The CDC has offered guidance to help people recreating in parks and open spaces prevent the spread of infectious diseases.\u00a0We ask the public to be our partner in recreating responsibly, by following CDC and state and local guidance, social distancing, and wearing a face covering when social distance cannot be maintained,\u201d the NPS statement added.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
