Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said his administration is still working on the actual guidelines on how to implement the so-called \u201ctravel bubble\u201d to bring in tourists again.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a radio news briefing Friday, Torres said there are some detailed suggestions on how to move forward with the travel bubble. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to have a couple more meetings to sanction and ratify what is the actual guidelines and how do we approach the travel bubble itself,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n
The governor said they have been working with the Marianas Visitors Authority and also with the Governor\u2019s Economic Council Advisers on what is the best route and best practice before they open the CNMI to tourists.<\/p>\n
Torres assured that the system in place to protect the people in the CNMI is working. \u201cIt is important that we get the blessing and understanding and support from our community, that when we open our tourism market it is supported by the community. And that the decision that has been made is still in the best interest of not just the health of our community but as well as our financial needs moving forward,\u201d Torres said. <\/p>\n
The governor emphasized that that nothing is more important than making people\u2019s health a priority. \u201cMoving forward now that we are safe, we are looking into opening up our tourist market. Still, our health is a priority as we move forward and make that decision,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n
Torres earlier disclosed that they are targeting tourists from South Korea in the travel bubble\u2014an exclusive tourism partnership between neighboring or nearby countries, preferably with one that have low COVID-19 infection rates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
