{"id":334076,"date":"2020-11-26T06:00:02","date_gmt":"2020-11-25T20:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=334076"},"modified":"2020-11-26T06:00:02","modified_gmt":"2020-11-25T20:00:02","slug":"public-warned-of-rip-currents-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/public-warned-of-rip-currents-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Public warned of rip currents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The public is being warned of a high risk for rip currents until Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, there is a high rip current risk expected through Saturday along east-facing reefs of Guam, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. <\/p>\n<p>Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Residents are advised to avoid venturing out towards east-facing reefs. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
