The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands is sponsoring a \u201cProject Safe Neighborhoods Conference: Engaging our Youth and Family, Schools, Law Enforcement, Courts, and Private Sector in Community Partnership,\u201d on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 8:30am to 5pm, to be held at the American Memorial Park. Registration will be from 7:45am to 8:30am. The conference is open to the public and free of charge.
\nWe encourage and welcome students, parents and guardians, family members, teachers, administrators, school counselors and nurses, law enforcement, social service providers, victim advocates, mental health and medical professionals, faith-based community, and all of our community stakeholders to attend and participate. Sessions will cover areas such as:<\/p>\n
-What is bullying and cyberbullying?<\/p>\n
-Is it against the law to bully and cyberbully?<\/p>\n
-What can we do to stop bullying and cyberbullying?<\/p>\n
-What are the dangers on the Internet and how can we be safe?<\/p>\n
-What is sexting?<\/p>\n
-What can we do lf we feel anxious or depressed?<\/p>\n
-What can we do to prevent suicide?<\/p>\n
-Dating violence, safe dating and street smarts<\/p>\n
-Can you tell me more about the dangers of drugs?<\/p>\n
-What are the laws about drugs and guns?<\/p>\n
-Abuse and neglect of children, the elderly and persons with disabilities: what is mandated reporting?<\/p>\n
-What are the rights of victims of crime?<\/p>\n
-Know your victim advocates<\/p>\n
-Know your community service providers and resources<\/p>\n
