{"id":335816,"date":"2020-12-29T06:05:32","date_gmt":"2020-12-28T20:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=335816"},"modified":"2020-12-29T06:05:32","modified_gmt":"2020-12-28T20:05:32","slug":"5k-bail-for-man-who-allegedly-assaulted-manamko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/5k-bail-for-man-who-allegedly-assaulted-manamko\/","title":{"rendered":"$5K bail for man who allegedly assaulted man\u2019amko"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man was assessed a $5,000 cash bail for allegedly assaulting a senior citizen or a man\u2019amko during an altercation over land. <\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Santos Borja, 49, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, vandalism, and domestic violence: senior citizen physical abuse and\/or mental cruelty after throwing a toaster at a man\u2019amko during an argument. <\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Borja.<\/p>\n<p>At the bail hearing last week, Borja was represented by the Public Defender\u2019s Office, while assistant attorney general Samantha Vickery appeared for the government.<\/p>\n<p>After the hearing, Borja was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections and was ordered to return to court on Dec. 23, at 9am for a preliminary hearing and on Jan. 5 at 9am to be arraigned.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint filed by the Department of Public Safety, Borja\u2019s wife had confronted a man\u2019amko about the land he was giving away for free to a family member. Borja took his wife\u2019s side in the argument and got mad at the man\u2019amko, police stated.
