{"id":336201,"date":"2021-01-06T06:04:09","date_gmt":"2021-01-05T20:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=336201"},"modified":"2021-01-06T06:04:09","modified_gmt":"2021-01-05T20:04:09","slug":"a-trump-termination-trilogy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/a-trump-termination-trilogy\/","title":{"rendered":"A Trump Termination Trilogy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Farewell Lying Loser Leader<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<em>\u201cParting is all we know of heaven and all we need of hell.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0              \u00a0<strong>\u2014Emily Dickinson (Dec. 10, 1830 &#8211; May 1, 1886)<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFarewell falsifier liar your right wing reign doth close<br \/>\nfrom tragic tweeter tales to wily wiles farewell<br \/>\nyour negativity, impeachment failed to expel<br \/>\nangry arguments that stunk up the nation\u2019s nose.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nYour alternate reality and poor judgement shows<br \/>\nyou slowed your departure not done very well<br \/>\nbooks keep pouring out your sordid story to tell<br \/>\ntax fraud, cheating, insults, now the world knows.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen gone and you\u2019ll go no matter how hard you try<br \/>\nit can\u2019t be avoided regardless what you do or say<br \/>\nthe entire world is watching you with an open eye<br \/>\nand millions of Americans will sing Oh Happy Day!\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFew will shed tears, it is your last hurrah, so bye bye<br \/>\nAmerica is better now, \u201cgreat again\u201d, come what may.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a045 Departs, 22,000 Lies, and False Starts<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOn your last day in the White House Oval Office<br \/>\nwhen hardworking staff lay dust covers on chairs<br \/>\nwhat about the place you called \u2018a dump\u2019 will you miss?<br \/>\nare you paranoid about presidential portrait stares?<br \/>\ncompare them with your self-centered chaotic time<br \/>\nand positive laws they signed with a presidential pen<br \/>\nthink about the \u2018wall,\u2019 migrant children, swamp slime<br \/>\nabout the elected national leader you have never been<br \/>\nthen come up with some last minute departing thought<br \/>\nhow your reign withstood your temper tantrums and rage<br \/>\na more sordid time in office has never been wrought<br \/>\nbut since you lost the race us poets need not prove<br \/>\nany mocking or sarcastic style for your last move.<br \/>\nYour parting is sweet and sour. Let us party tomorrow!<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Trumpty Dumpty\u2019s Last Fall, Autumn 2020<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nToo many tweets with very little common sense<br \/>\nusing your thumbs to make ridiculous commands<br \/>\nstaff and cabinet bail out with little help from Pence<br \/>\nhe and other sycophants lip synch to beat the band<br \/>\nthen fraudulent tax cheat, as tacky tweeter terrorist<br \/>\nin arguments and clashes with world leaders you look<br \/>\nfoolish for not looking at or reading a daily briefing list<br \/>\nseldom turning or opening pages of any brief or book<br \/>\na national disgrace, a present danger to our democracy<br \/>\nas you take final steps down the White House stairs<br \/>\npart and parcel of your laughable lying legacy will be<br \/>\nfailure, freaking out, faking it on many national affairs<br \/>\nlack of a moral compass or showing any empathy at all<br \/>\nyour puerile play is over, time for your demise and fall.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<em>Note from the author: Readers, please note, I wrote this sonnet trilogy last October 2020 while\u00a0visiting my older brother, who is in poor health, and my two sisters in\u00a0upstate New York. After flying over and with fear of COVID-19 death for all four of us due to our respective ages, I quarantined for two weeks in the house I grew up in. I saved these sonnets as 45\u2019s farewell poems. We can see he\u2019s not going \u201cgentle into that good night.\u201d I\u2019m counting the days to the 2021 inauguration.
