It is also a gym that advocates health and fitness and a new addition to its program is yoga led by Kerri Bauer, a certified yoga teacher.

“Trench Tech caters to all who are interested in competing in cage fighting, competitive BJJ…martial arts… and people who simply want to get in shape… Yoga is great for flexibility and strength and just about everyone can do it,” she said.

“It [yoga] helps to clear your mind and focus your breathing which is scientifically proven to help reduce stress. It helps develop core strength, better posture, and body awareness… Yoga is a practice and everyone is all practicing together. I’m not perfect at every move either and when we fall, just like in life, we always get back up again,” she added.

Bauer teaches six-week signup sessions of “Kids Yoga” during Wednesdays at 5pm and “Adult Yoga” at 5:45pm. “The ‘Kids Yoga’ is currently full and the adult class is composed of 10 classes for only $50 or $7 per class… At Trench Tech we can accommodate 25 participants,” she said.

“Like all business establishments, we check temperature and log names and contact numbers. We keep sanitizing stations on all sides of gym and of course wear our masks during class, our gym is an ‘open wall setup where we have fresh air blowing through the fences when we roll up our tarps,” she added.

Although Bauer has been on island for less than six months, she is not a newbie in the world of wellness and conducting fitness classes. Her energy and passion in health and fitness is evident in every sport she gets into. “I have been a group exercise instructor for 13 years teaching spinning, cardio, strength, barre, and other group fitness classes. I have been taking yoga classes on and off during that time and got more into yoga in the past few years and earned my certifications. I have trained with Yoga Renew 200 Hour YTT and the WillPower Method Cardio Yoga,” she said.

“I was teaching a Yoga Core and more classes at Latte Built [Gym] which evolved into Class and a Glass. I love the idea of teaching outside and participants felt more comfortable during the pandemic and yoga has picked up lot of interest and aside from Trench Tech, was requested to teach at Aqua Resort Club during Mondays at 8:30am at the beach of Aqua Resort which can accommodate lots of people because of the open air. In yoga, switching up the scenery will stimulate your mind too,” she added.

Trench Tech is located in Garapan near Century Hotel.
