Samoa store to pay $41,507 in back wages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>O &amp; O Inc., an American Samoa department store that also wholesales to smaller grocery and convenience stores, failed to pay the Fair Labor Standards Act\u2019s required minimum wage and overtime premium to 49 workers, the Wage and Hour Division found.<br \/>\nThe investigation centered on the company\u2019s Nu\u2019uuli village location for a period of two years, beginning in March 2012. The company, investigators said, paid \u201cday rate\u201d employees between $25 and $30 for eight-hour shifts, which did not equate to the American Samoa minimum wage of $4.60 per hour for the retail and wholesale industry.
