Guam received 7,800 more vaccines last Jan. 16, even as one more person in the U.S. territory succumbed to COVID-19 a day later, raising their total to 128 COVID-19-related fatalities.<\/p>\n
According to the Joint Information Center, Guam\u2019s 128th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City last Jan. 17 at approximately 10:36pm. The patient was a 39-year-old male with underlying health conditions and was admitted to GRMC last Jan. 15 and tested positive upon admission.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no dawning without night. As we mourn the loss of another to this virus, we cannot let ourselves become complacent. This virus does not rest and neither shall we. To those who loved him, [first gentleman] Jeff [Cook], Lt. Gov. Josh [Tenorio], and I send our deepest condolences and sympathies for your loss,\u201d said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.<\/p>\n
JIC also announced that a total of 7,200 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Guam last Thursday, Jan. 14, followed by 7,800 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines that arrived on Saturday, Jan. 16. <\/p>\n
This completes Guam\u2019s January allocation of 15,000 doses of both COVID-19 vaccines, on top of the 11,500 doses during the December allocation, the JIC statement said.<\/p>\n
Also, JIC confirmed one more case of COVID-19 in Guam that was identified out of 219 tests that were performed last Jan. 17.<\/p>\n
To date, there have been a total of 7,485 cases of COVID-19 in Guam, with 128 deaths, 137 cases in active isolation, and 7,220 not in active isolation.<\/p>\n
JIC added that the Department of Public Health and Social Services\u2014in partnership with the Office of the Governor, Guam Department of Education, Mayors\u2019 Council of Guam, Department of Public Works, Guam Department of Labor, Guam Fire Department, Guam Police Department, Guam National Guard, University of Guam\u2019s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the Serve Guam Commission, which oversees the AmeriCorps Guam Program\u2014continued its COVID-19 vaccination last Jan. 19 at the Okkodo High School in Dededo. <\/p>\n
DPHSS COVID-19 vaccination clinic will continue on Jan. 20 and 21, starting at 8:30am at the UOG Field House in Mangilao.<\/p>\n
According to JIC, these vaccination clinics are for Phase 1B, individuals 75 years and older, and others who are due for their second dose and received their first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Dec. 28 to 31, 2020. <\/p>\n
\u201cDPHSS will issue tickets for vaccinations on a first-come, first-served basis to patients in their vehicles only. Patient parking Instructions will be printed on the back of each ticket, please read these instructions carefully,\u201d said JIC. Those who are due for their second dose are reminded to bring their immunization card and identification card to the vaccination clinic, so it may be properly documented.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
