The Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year New Year New Hope Initiative donated $4,100 each to five non-profit organizations in the Marianas, three of which are based in the CNMI. <\/p>\n

Present yesterday to receive the checks at the Aqua Resort Club are the three Saipan-based non-profits: Salvation Army\u2013Saipan Corps, American Red Cross\u2013NMI Chapter, and Make-a-Wish Guam & CNMI. The Guam-based recipients are Salvation Army-Guam Corps and the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association. <\/p>\n

Guam Business Magazine Publisher Maureen Maratita acknowledged \u201chow hard times are\u201d for the organizations, and expressed hope that the donations will help in the work they do.<\/p>\n

The initiative was supported by the Executives of the Year, including prominent companies in the Mariana Islands, which chose the non-profits receiving the donation. Marian Aldan-Pierce (2000 Executive of the Year), and TanHoldings\u2019 David Sablan (2005 Executive of the Year) and Jerry Tan (2009 Executive of the Year) were present at the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cThese leaders and organizations have made this unique initiative possible by their swift response. The magazine was unable to host the gala this year, but through their support, the program can still make a positive contribution in 2021,\u201d Maratita added. <\/p>\n

John Hirsh, executive director of the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter, said the organization has been very busy reaching out to the public on COVID-19 safety, among others. <\/p>\n

\u201cI know that a lot of people worked hard under extremely challenging conditions, economic conditions, to put these donations together, so to everyone who worked so hard to contribute and donate, thank you very much,\u201d said Salvation Army pastor Wayne Guillespie.<\/p>\n

Jay Santos of Make-a-Wish highlighted their mission to grant the wishes of children who have critical illnesses and whose lives are a challenge. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
