{"id":33770,"date":"2014-04-30T09:10:28","date_gmt":"2014-04-30T01:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tribune.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=33770"},"modified":"2014-04-30T09:10:28","modified_gmt":"2014-04-30T01:10:28","slug":"fun-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fun-food\/","title":{"rendered":"Fun With Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FROM A CHICKEN SHACK TO A POULTRY PALACE<\/strong><br \/>\nwhen I eat wings my brother<br \/>\nsuch wings so fine to dine<br \/>\nsuch meat my mind remembers<br \/>\nin fricaseed and fried Septembers<br \/>\njust when a late lunch seems over<br \/>\nGeneral Tso\u2019s chicken pours down my gullet<br \/>\nwhen I eat those wings my brother<br \/>\nsuch wings from any poultry pullet<\/p>\n<p>such meat as turkey, pheasant, and chickens<br \/>\nwhen their roasting aroma hits my nose<br \/>\nand fills my appetites sensation<br \/>\nwith cholesterol free elation<br \/>\nthen my heart stops and sickens<br \/>\nwith fear the store may close<br \/>\nwhere I buy those delicious chickens<br \/>\nsome roasted, some fried, some froze<\/p>\n<p>we sons and daughters of carnivores<br \/>\nwho enjoy eating animal legs and wings<br \/>\nwhat animal that walks we\u2019ll eat it<br \/>\nwith grass, hay, and corn we\u2019ll feed it<br \/>\n\u201cfree birds fly higher than freemen\u201d<br \/>\nwander wild the moose, deer, and boars<br \/>\nwe sons and daughters of carnivores<br \/>\nstill enjoy eating animal legs and wings<\/p>\n<p>with Buffalo wings and special sauce<br \/>\ndinner bells ring for every girl and boy<br \/>\nturkey thighs hot right out of the oven<br \/>\ncandied yams and giblet gravy to shove in<br \/>\na fresh spinach salad to garnish and toss<br \/>\npies of custard and pumpkin bring joy<br \/>\nwith Buffalo wings and special sauce<br \/>\ndinner bells ring for every girl and boy<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE ELVISH PRETZEL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>the Elvish Pretzel had dough that was squiggly<br \/>\nan oaf of a loaf of lounge lizard proportions<br \/>\ntwas baked in the image of Pelvish Wriggly<br \/>\nyou had to love its tender distortions<\/p>\n<p>and once reaching the perfect temperature<br \/>\nit got up from its baking pan and strolled<br \/>\npast light crust doughboys who for sure<br \/>\nliked those sticky buns being sold<\/p>\n<p>beyond carrot cakes and banana crean pies<br \/>\nthrough the marble halls of Memphis malls<br \/>\nnear jelly donuts and candy bars to despise<br \/>\nsmall spas selling mini fountains of Niagara Falls<\/p>\n<p>where shops full of Titanic ties and Gordian knots<br \/>\nbind us all to the myth of the Sisyphean orb<br \/>\nfor fun in the sun during cold spells and hots<br \/>\nwith as many hot dogs and buns as we can absorb<\/p>\n<p>it tried garlic mayonnaise and maple marinade<br \/>\nwith TV\u2019s Emeril and Martha twisting on the spit<br \/>\nsipping flavonoid flavored lemonade<br \/>\nat a shish kebab marathon in a BBQ pit<\/p>\n<p>popping corn and chewing Chinese sesame seed<br \/>\ntalking cold turkey burgers, telling fat turkey tales<br \/>\nFrench\u2019s mustard said we just may need<br \/>\n\u2018Bright\u2019 ideas if proof in the plum pudding fails<\/p>\n<p>beyond parade ground picnic or tailgates tonight<br \/>\nthe French fried onion rings all scream<br \/>\nfor ketchup, catsup, and malt vinegar light<br \/>\ndessert is almond biscotti with spumoni ice cream<\/p>\n<p>it moved on to the chops &#8211;
