Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio issue the following statement regarding the advancement of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe third stimulus package was passed by the Senate early this morning. We expect the House to vote on its final passage this week for President Biden\u2019s signature before previous aid expires. The additional aid to families and small businesses will help Guam move from crisis response to economic recovery. The bill amended by the Senate will provide direct payments to individuals, extended weekly emergency unemployment checks, long-term low-interest loans for small businesses, and more funds in rental, utility, and mortgage relief,\u201d said Leon Guerrero.<\/p>\n<p>Tenorio added, \u201cThe most devastating effects of this pandemic have impacted our most vulnerable citizens\u2014our children. The bill directly addresses this fact. Families with children will receive an increase in Child Tax Credits and food stamps. These benefits lift millions of people out of poverty and cut child poverty in half.
