{"id":33984,"date":"2014-05-02T09:56:53","date_gmt":"2014-05-02T01:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tribune.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=33984"},"modified":"2014-05-02T09:56:53","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T01:56:53","slug":"rebates-early-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/rebates-early-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Rebates \u2018out as early as July\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Close to 7,500 taxpayers that have so far filed their 2013 individual tax returns could expect to receive \u201cas early as July\u201d an estimated $9 million in total rebate and refund checks, as well as child tax credit checks for others.<br \/>\nFinance Secretary Larrisa Larson said yesterday that the number of 2013 tax filers as of yesterday\u20147,494\u2014is still preliminary, along with the amount of checks to be released \u201cbefore the opening of schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Larson calls on community members to be patient until the checks are ready for release but said Finance has been working with Bank of Saipan and Express Financial to allow qualified taxpayers to borrow against their expected tax refunds and rebates if they need their money for immediate reasons, or before Finance\u2019s official release of checks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not ready at this point to release [checks] to anyone,\u201d Larson told Saipan Tribune, before the start of the Lottery Commission\u2019s first official meeting to discuss two Saipan casino applications yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>As of yesterday, the preliminary 2013 refund checks estimated for release is $1.17 million.
