(NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In its ongoing efforts to further higher education in the CNMI, McDonald\u2019s is offering a $5,000 hole-in-one prize for the upcoming 16th Annual Northern Marianas College Foundation Open Golf Tournament currently scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2021. The first lucky golfer who makes a hole-in-one at the LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort\u2019s hole No. 4 at the east course will win the $5,000 prize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going through hard economic times, but education is always number one for us,\u201d said Mable Ayuyu-Glenn, executive assistant to the president of McDonald\u2019s of Saipan. \u201cWe will not stop or cut funds when it comes to education. We are still here for education, no matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Originally scheduled to happen in 2019, the tournament was canceled because of the impact of Super Typhoon Yutu and was rescheduled for March of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the tournament to be postponed again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMcDonald\u2019s has been a great supporter of Northern Marianas College for many, many years,\u201d NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico said. \u201cWe are grateful for the company\u2019s contribution to this year\u2019s tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Marianas Pacific Distributors recently donated $3,575 in cash, in-kind prizes, and beverages to NMC for this Saturday\u2019s NMC Foundation Golf Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to be able to support Northern Marianas College and its efforts to support higher education,\u201d said Guy Pudney, resident manager of MARPAC. \u201cI encourage other companies to support the College as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_340574\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-340574\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/McDonalds-pix-2-300x169.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-340574\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marianas Pacific Distributors (MARPAC) donated $3,575 in cash, in-kind prizes, and beverages to Northern Marianas College. (NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p> \u201cHaving MARPAC as a sponsor has always boosted the excitement of the event,\u201d said Eliptico. \u201cWe are grateful for the company\u2019s continued support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NMC Foundation 16th annual open golf tournament will be held on the east course of the Saipan LaoLao Bay Golf &amp; Resort. Showtime is at 6am, and the shotgun start will be at 7am. The tournament will follow a medal play format. COVID-19 preventative measures will be followed and enforced at the tournament grounds. <\/p>\n<p>First place winners in the men\u2019s Championship, A, B, C, Senior, and Ladies Flights will each receive $500, while $300 and $200 will go to the second and third place finishers, respectively. Hole-in-one prizes also include a $5,000 hole-in-one prize from Pacifica Insurance, a 2020 Kia Soul from Joeten Motors, and a 2020 Mazda 3 from Triple J Motors. The tournament will also feature many other items such as raffle prizes like smartphones, hotel stays, meals, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum number of golf players has been reached, therefore, registration is closed for this year\u2019s tournament. Interested players can still apply to be on the waitlist by emailing NMC Foundation coordinator Carla Sablan at carla.sablan@marianas.edu.<\/p>\n<p>The college is asking companies, organizations, or individuals who are interested in sponsoring holes and\/or for any in-kind or cash donation to help support the CNMI\u2019s post-secondary institution.
