The event will also be streamed on PBS Guam\u2019s YouTube channel and rebroadcasted at 7pm on Sunday, April 4.<\/p>\n<p>During the launch, Aguon will read excerpts from the book and respond to questions from University of Guam students, who have read an advanced copy of the book.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_340776\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-340776\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-340776\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Julian-Aguon-mug-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-340776\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Julian Aguon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>UOG Press will also host a socially distanced book signing, where books may be purchased and signed by Aguon from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, April 3, in the atrium of the University of Guam\u2019s Humanities and Social Sciences building. The event will feature a live musical performance by Microchild. Masks are required and the community is encouraged to bring an umbrella as social distancing may push the line outside the building.<\/p>\n<p>The Properties of Perpetual Light is an homage to Aguon\u2019s work as an activist-writer, which he describes as \u201cthe work of bearing witness, wrestling with the questions of one\u2019s day, telling children the truth.\u201d Featuring prose and poetry, Aguon\u2019s memoir weaves together stories from his childhood in the villages of Guam with searing political commentary about everything from nuclear weapons to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The book has received acclaim from notable authors and Pulitzer Prize novelists including Junot D\u00edaz and Alice Walker. Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything,\u201d wrote, \u201cOverflowing with warmth and wisdom and defying all categorization, The Properties of Perpetual Light is philosophy, poetry, memoir, history, and self-help for humanity. With bottomless love for his people and place, Aguon guides us through a portal to the Pacific, sharing deep insights earned from life on the existential knife\u2019s edge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Properties of Perpetual Light is now available for pre-order at\u00a0uog.edu\/uogpress, the UOG Triton Bookstore, itascabooks.com, JulianAguon.com, and Amazon.com.
