Bes House of Chicken supported the feeding program of Members Church of God International Saipan Chapter from April 4 to 10, 2021 (BEA CABRERA)

Barely five months since its grand opening, Bes House of Chicken on Beach Road in Garapan (in front of the TSL Plaza) does not only offer delicious roasted and fried chicken dishes but has already extended a helping hand to those in need during this pandemic. Last week, the restaurant helped facilitate a feeding program and grocery distribution that ran for a week starting April 4.

According to Bes House of Chicken manager Leo Legaspi, the program is a long-time advocacy of the Members Church of God International. “We are reaching out to community members to continue the legacy of Brother Eli Soriano and Kuya Daniel Razon’s advocacy to help people in need during this pandemic, with the help of God and our MCGI that are based on Saipan. …[Last] April 4 to 10 we conducted a feeding program and from April 7 to 9, we gave away free grocery items,” he said.

“MCGI’s feeding program and free store were held in various places simultaneously: the Philippines, Brazil, North America, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and other countries and islands where there are MCGI chapters. …On Saipan, [the] BES House of Chicken offered the [use of the] place for free, no charge for the venue to be part of this advocacy,” he added.

Legaspi said he opened not only the doors of Bes House of Chicken but also at the Daniel’s Coffee Shop located beside the restaurant. Their feeding program served food products of BES House of Chicken. For the free store or grocery giveaway (composed of butane canisters, canned goods, rice, coffee, condiments, slippers, etc.), it was held at Daniel’s Coffee Shop and benefited people who are out of jobs and needed assistance.

“For the free store/grocery giveaway, recipients were given free points by MCGI volunteers who screened recipients upon arrival so that they can avail of the goods. Overall, we were able to provide food to 73 recipients and free store/grocery items to 75 recipients. …This will give them enough for at least a week or two to meet their needs,” he added.

Legaspi looks forward to more opportunities to help those in need. “…with God’s help, we hope that Kuya Daniel Razon with MCGI will continue this program all over the chapters in the Philippines and abroad, including MCGI Saipan and Guam,” he said. “…This way, we hope to make them feel that they are not forsaken. We heard one recipient say that this is the first time where we were able to buy items in the store where we didn’t need to spend money, which had been a challenge since the pandemic.”

[11

post-341949","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business
["GET
