Torres said Friday that he wants to soon see an extension on the expiring land lease of Hyatt Regency Saipan in Garapan, even as the Department of Public Lands is still reviewing the proposal that Hyatt\u2019s owner had submitted.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_342053\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-342053\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Ralph-DLG.-Torres-mug-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-342053\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-342053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Torres<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Torres said they will hopefully have more detailed updates and approval from the Attorney General, DPL, and their Hyatt partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, I\u2019ll continue to say that I support Hyatt and I hope that we can continue to strengthen that partnership and hopefully see an extension of lease soon,\u201d Torres said when asked for an update on the land lease negotiation between Hyatt and the government during his radio press briefing last week. <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_342052\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-342052\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Deveney-Dela-Cruz10-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-342052\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-342052\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dela Cruz<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Deveney Dela Cruz, special assistant to the DPL secretary, said last Friday that, according to DPL Real Estate director Bonnie T. Royal, the last offer from Hyatt owner, Saipan Portopia Hotel Corp., is still being evaluated based on current regulations. <\/p>\n<p>DPL Secretary Marianne Concepcion-Teregeyo disclosed last December that Hyatt had already submitted all the documents that DPL needed and that they\u2019re reviewing the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Hyatt\u2019s 40-year public land lease will expire in December 2021. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
