Rommel Dizon conquered the beginner\u2019s category with an unofficial time of 30 minutes during the Saipan Unity Lions Club\u2019s 5th Annual Bike Race held last Sunday at Banzai Cliff.<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old The Water Company staff is an avid cyclist but it was his first time winning a bike race last Sunday and it was definitely a shock. <\/p>\n

When asked how he felt, Dizon said he was tired and figuratively felt like he would pass out from the difficulty of the course but the win was worth it. <\/p>\n

Dizon said in terms of preparation, he made sure to consume at least two eggs every morning for two weeks in addition to biking a few hours every day. <\/p>\n

In an interview with Unity Lion\u2019s Club president Alicia Barbo, about $2,300 was raised from the biking event. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery registration was $20. From the online registration, we had 104, but on the morning of the event, we had some last-minute registrants so basically, we had around 115,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

Barbo said the event was an exciting one and the organization is grateful and glad to see that there were so many participants supporting them because the organization is all about giving back to the community.<\/p>\n
