{"id":343110,"date":"2021-04-28T06:05:58","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T20:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=343110"},"modified":"2021-04-28T06:05:58","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T20:05:58","slug":"cnmi-to-resume-jj-vaccination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cnmi-to-resume-jj-vaccination\/","title":{"rendered":"CNMI to resume J&#038;J vaccination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the CNMI advances to a Level 1 for low risk of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s travel health notice list, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Mu\u00f1a said CHCC will resume the use of the Johnson &amp; Johnson\/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>Mu\u00f1a confirmed that CHCC will resume the Janssen vaccine following recommendations from CDC and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to lift the pause on the single-dose vaccine<\/p>\n<p>According to CDC and FDA, they have determined that use of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine should be resumed in the United States; FDA and CDC have confidence that this vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19; the FDA has determined that the available data show that the vaccine\u2019s known and potential benefits outweigh its known and potential risks in individuals 18 years of age and older.<\/p>\n<p>CDC and FDA said at this time, the available data suggest that the chance of thrombosis-thrombocytopenia syndrome\u2013 a condition that causes low blood clots and low platelets\u2013 occurring is very low, but they will continue to investigate this risk.<\/p>\n<p>The pause was recommended earlier this month after reports of six cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals following administration of the Janssen vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mu\u00f1a, they will resume the use of the vaccine and will make sure that everything is okay after the shot. Mu\u00f1a did not further comment on the issue and recommended to wait for a press release.<\/p>\n<p>As of press time, there was no statements or press releases from CHCC, the Governor\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force, or the Torres administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CNMI moves to Level 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently lowered the CNMI to Level 1 category on its Travel Health Notice list for low risk of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve Level 1, destinations must have less than 10 cases over the past 28 days.<br \/>\nAccording to CDC, the primary criteria for destinations with a population of 200,000 or less are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 COVID-19 case counts (cumulative new cases over the past 28 days)<br \/>\n\u2022 Continuous review of new case trend data over the past 28 days<\/p>\n<p>According to CHCC\u2019s public information officer Lee Tenorio, CHCC attributes the upgrade in category to the efforts of the residents of the CNMI. As of April 26, 2021, the CNMI has fully vaccinated 17,652 persons which represents 46.3% of the eligible population.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, CHCC has updated its traveler protocols entering the CNMI last April 27. These are the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group A: Travelers fully vaccinated in the CNMI<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Arrival Procedures:<br \/>\no Will be transported to the quarantine facility and be tested on arrival<br \/>\no CHCC staff will verify vaccination status<br \/>\no Home and lodging will be inspected by CHCC staff and must pass for approval;<br \/>\nall eligible household\/lodging members must be fully vaccinated<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Quarantine Procedures:<br \/>\no If home\/lodging inspection passes, monitoring and quarantine are not required<br \/>\n(allowed to move freely around the CNMI)<br \/>\no Will be tested on 5th day<br \/>\no Travelers must practice the 3 W\u2019s\u2013 wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch<br \/>\nyour distance<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group B1: Critical essential workers approved by the CNMI health official <\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Arrival Procedures:<br \/>\no Will be transported to the quarantine facility and be tested on arrival<br \/>\no CHCC staff will verify vaccination, if Critical Essential worker is vaccinated, if applicable must pass for approval; all eligible household\/lodging members must be fully vaccinated<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Quarantine Procedures:<br \/>\no Home\/Lodging Self-Quarantine with limited movement<br \/>\no Will be tested on 5th day<br \/>\no 5-day monitoring is required<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group B2: Essential workers approved by the CNMI health official who have proof of vaccination<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Arrival Procedures:<br \/>\no Will be transported to the Quarantine Facility and be tested on Arrival<br \/>\no Provide proof of vaccination to be verified by CHCC staff<br \/>\no Home and lodging will be inspected by CHCC staff and must pass for approval;<br \/>\nall eligible household\/lodging members must be fully vaccinated<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Quarantine Procedures:<br \/>\no Home\/Lodging Self-Quarantine with limited movement<br \/>\no Will be tested on 5th day<br \/>\no 5-day monitoring is required<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group B3: Essential workers that are approved by the CNMI health official who are not<br \/>\nvaccinated or do not have proof of vaccination<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Arrival Procedures:<br \/>\no Will be transported to the quarantine facility and be tested on arrival<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Quarantine Procedures:<br \/>\no 5-day mandatory quarantine at the designated government quarantine facility<br \/>\no Will be tested on 5th day<br \/>\no Modified transportation to and from place of work<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group C: Travelers from a Level 1 jurisdiction according to CDC COVID-19 travel<\/strong><br \/>\nrecommendations, who did not layover in a Level 2 or higher jurisdiction and who have proof of their official vaccination record.<br \/>\n\u2022 Arrival Procedures:<br \/>\no Will be transported to the quarantine facility and be tested on arrival<br \/>\no Proof of vaccination to be verified by CHCC staff<br \/>\no Home or lodging will be inspected by CHCC staff and must pass for approval;
