A father and son were arrested over the weekend for allegedly stealing a neighbor\u2019s 28-foot extendable ladder in Lower Navy Hill last month.<\/p>\n
Police recovered the ladder near the suspects\u2019 house and also seized 24 marijuana plants.<\/p>\n
Ramon S. Taman, 54, was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). His bail was set at $5,000.<\/p>\n
Oliver Joseph Taman, 18, was arrested for theft. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.<\/p>\n
Camacho held a bail modification hearing yesterday afternoon for Ramon Taman.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Benjamin Petersburg asked the court to allow Ramon Taman to be released to a third-party custodian upon posting a property bond. The court granted the motion.<\/p>\n
Police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer was dispatched to a residence in Lower Navy Hill last April 23 after a complainant claimed that their bush cutter worth $400, an extendable ladder worth $350, and metal fruit picker were stolen.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said follow-up investigation led to the identification of Ramon and Oliver Taman as the suspects.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said Ramon Taman first denied stealing the ladder and other items but the son, Oliver, allegedly confessed that his father asked to help him take the ladder.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said Oliver Taman even directed police to where they hid the ladder.<\/p>\n
The detective said Ramon Taman then admitted that he asked his son to take the ladder.<\/p>\n
As police were searching for the ladder, they found 24 marijuana plants that were planted on the ground near Ramon Taman\u2019s house, Pangelinan said.<\/p>\n
She said Ramon Taman admitted planting the marijuana.<\/p>\n
