{"id":34326,"date":"2014-05-06T14:12:12","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T04:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=34326"},"modified":"2014-05-06T14:12:12","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T04:12:12","slug":"house-approves-fiscal-year-2015-budget-cap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/house-approves-fiscal-year-2015-budget-cap\/","title":{"rendered":"House approves fiscal year 2015 budget cap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives adopted Monday a fiscal year 2015 concurrent resolution on the CNMI government\u2019s total projected resources of $170 million, of which $134 million is available for appropriations. It also paves the way for House Ways and Means Committee chair Rep. Tony Sablan (Ind-Saipan) to schedule hearings on 12 government agencies\u2019 proposed 2015 budget.<\/p>\n<p>House Concurrent Resolution 18-2, authored by Sablan, unanimously passed the House at past 4pm Monday. It was the only measure that the House acted on in Monday afternoon\u2019s session, which resumed at 9:30am yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>This comes over a month since Gov. Eloy S. Inos sent his proposed budget to the Legislature on April 1, covering the period from Oct. 1, 2014, to Sept. 30, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Ways and Means Committee\u2019s budget hearings will be from May 7 to 30, each starting at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>The first hearing will be on the Department of Corrections\u2019 budget today, May 7. This will be followed by the Department of Public Safety\u2019s budget hearing tomorrow, May 8.<\/p>\n<p>Next week\u2019s budget hearings will be for the Public School System (May 13), Department of Public Lands (May 14), and Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.
