Reyes Elementary School in Chalan Kanoa will get $2.07 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to repair some of the damage it sustained from Super Typhoon Yutu in October 2018, according to Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP)<\/p>\n<p>Sablan stated in his e-kilili newsletter over the weekend that FEMA announced on Tuesday a $2,078,589 grant for WSR that will be used to bring nine buildings, recreational facilities, covered walkways, and exterior components to pre-disaster conditions, with approved hazard mitigation measures. He said the award covers 90% of the total project cost of $2,309,541.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFEMA has to date awarded more than $53 million to the Northern Marianas Public School System for Yutu repairs and rebuilding,\u201d Sablan said.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, the Board of Education approved the design of the new WSR auditorium\/cafeteria project,  which FEMA is funding for $1,798,938. <\/p>\n<p>BOE said FEMA also gave $2,776,578 for WSR\u2019s Building C, which was severely damaged due to Yutu\u2019s fury. What reportedly remains of the existing Building C is only the concrete floor slab and foundation. <\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Torres-Palacios administration announced that FEMA has approved an $88.73-million Community Disaster Loan that will settle the CNMI\u2019s outstanding obligations associated with Yutu\u2019s devastation in the Commonwealth. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The William S.
