As of April 16, 2021, all Guam Foody’s Stores and Shell Shops phased out disposable bags entirely and implemented the use of reusable bags, including its very own Foody’s black bag.

Brian Bamba, IP&E’s managing director, said, “We are excited about launching this program in all our stores here on Guam. This initiative supports our efforts to reduce waste and is part of an overarching company mission to find opportunities that shape a more sustainable energy future for our islands. We encourage our customers to join us in this effort and reduce the amount of plastic that is discarded by replacing single-use plastic bags with a reusable bag.”

Through June 30, 2021, Foody’s stores are offering a special promotion: customers who purchase $7 or more will receive a free small or large reusable bag with their store purchase. Customers who spend less than $7 can buy a reusable bag for only 99 cents. All customers who bring back their Foody’s reusable bag will receive 10 PACIFICPOINTS with every store transaction during the same promotional period.

The Foody’s reusable bags come in two sizes and can be easily folded up to carry in your purse or pocket. “We had our team test the prototypes of these bags because we really wanted to give our customers something that would be useful in their everyday life,” explained Bill Ada, Director of Retail Operations and Marketing.

V-Power $5 Coupons. (Contributed Photo)

Beginning yesterday, May 3 through June 30, customers will also receive a $5 coupon off their next $30.00 V-Power transaction every time they bring back their Foody’s black bag.

Ada added, “In order to be successful in building a sustainable future we need to change our behaviors and attitudes towards reducing waste and minimizing our carbon footprint. Eliminating single-use plastic bags is one of many things we can do to make a difference and while the Guam law will go into effect later this year, we have been planning to do this even prior to the law being passed but delayed implementation due to the pandemic. In showing our commitment to help change behaviors, IP&E is rewarding customers who use our reusable bags with $5 Off their V-Power purchase as well as giving them 10 bonus PACIFICPOINTS”.

As we acknowledge the 2021 Earth Day theme of Restore our Earth, the team at Foody’s and Shell would like to thank their customers and the entire island community for their support as we take steps toward reducing our carbon footprint and making responsible choices about sustainability.

For Shell Station and Store updates, visit our website (www.ipeguam.com) and social media channels (@shellfoodysguam on Instagram and Facebook).

IP&E Holdings, LLC is the retail and commercial supplier of petroleum products on Guam, Saipan, and Palau.
