Karidat Social Services now does its own website maintenance, thanks to the help of another nonprofit organization that teaches other nonprofits how to design and maintain their own websites.<\/p>\n
Since April, Karidat\u2019s website management has been done in-house, thanks to the efforts of Delta Airlines to link them with 48in48, a nonprofit group whose main purpose is to help 48 nonprofit organizations design and put up their own websites. That led to a Karidat staff member being given the opportunity to learn how to develop, launch, and maintain Karidat\u2019s website through educational sessions hosted by 48in48. Delta Airlines is one of 48in48\u2019s many corporate sponsors. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re just grateful that we were on [Delta\u2019s] radar; we just grab these opportunities as they come about. [A solid Web presence] is something we have to continue to develop because we have to be out there and update the website in real-time to show what we\u2019re doing,\u201d said Karidat executive director Lauri Ogumoro. <\/p>\n
Prior to the opportunity offered by Delta, Karidat had to reach out to Diocese of Chalan Kanoa\u2019s website administrator any time they needed to make changes to their website. Now, with a staff member serving as an acting website administrator in addition to the other work they do for Karidat, improvements to the website can happen much sooner.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The virtual training] was a great opportunity for us because we\u2019re now able to do things electronically; we have documents and our volunteer opportunities on [the website]. We recently just had a job opening, and we posted it on the website,\u201d said the staff member, who asked not to be named. <\/p>\n
Ogumoro expressed her gratitude to the staff member for adding on to their many existing responsibilities at Karidat just because they wanted to further help the organization. Ogumoro also said that she showed Karidat\u2019s board members the new website. <\/p>\n
